Francis D. Wetherill (Dupont family). Original named JUBILEE
III the maximum size Bermuda Racer is built of aluminum and
has built-in fuel and water tanks. Her ketch rig makes her a
verstile cruising boat that can be sailed by a small crew.
She has tándem centerboards that can be adjusted to give the
crafts the degree of helm desired under a great many
different sail combinations. At design 4 different owner
requirements were given equal importance, to be a good
racer, a good cruiser, very confortable and beautiful.
1966 Built at ABEKING & RASMUSSEN, Lemwerder, Germany
1967 Jan 28th. Launching was a big social event, over 200 guests were flown to
Hamburg for gala party and driven to Lemwerder for Christening.
1967 Were sailed first time to Fort Lauderdale across the Atlantic
At this time there were only two more big aluminum ocean racers in the
world, Mr. Kilroy´s “Kialoa” on the West coast of USA, and Mr Krupp Von Bolen´s “Germania VI” in Germany
1968 Was donated to US Naval Academy, Annapolis
An active sailing and racing life began. Young cadets were trained.

1973 Sold to Gerald Gidwitz Chairman of the Helene Curtis Company in Chicago
1976 Sold to Aleck Rigby owner of TV programe, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
1993 Sold to Andrzej Bartkowiak cinematographer and director
2006 Sold to present owner and renamed Wind Liberty on Panama flag.
2007 A complete refit was carried out, including teak deck, hull painting, spar and
rigging overhauling, new sails, diesel engine, electrical
system, propulsion system, fitted new auxiliary hydraulic circuit, air
conditioning, desalting plant, electronics and electrical power supply, etc,…
2008 Starting new life for Wind Liberty taking part in classic yacht races, and
leisure cruising.
